Hello, I’m Kanika.

I’m a Service Designer with a background in Architecture and over six years of work experience. I recently completed my Master’s in Service Design from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I believe good design starts with understanding people and using research to solve real problems.

Right now, I’m working as a UX Researcher at PeepalDesign, where I’m focused on making a positive impact through my work. I enjoy digging deep to find insights and turning them into ideas that improve products and services.

In the past, I worked on a project with SCAD x Lextant, where we created an Ideal Experience Framework to guide better design decisions. I also volunteered with the Service Design Network Young Talent Board, where we helped improve the speaker experience at the SDN Next Gen Conference using research and communication strategies.

I’m passionate about research, design, and finding better ways to solve problems. I’m always looking for opportunities where I can learn, grow, and help create meaningful change.

My Approach

Human-centered

My approach is centered around putting users first, backed by practical experience in human-centered design research. I aim to really understand how people think and feel, and then use that understanding to make things that work well and make sense for them. So, instead of just making something and hoping people like it, I listen to them, learn from them, then create something that fits them perfectly.

Systemic Thinking

Instead of focusing on one part of a problem or situation, I consider how everything is connected and works together. It's about understanding the relationships between different parts and seeing how changes in one area can affect the system.
The Ship of Theseus can be seen as an analogy for Systems Thinking. They both share a common thread in their consideration of the interconnectedness and transformation of elements within a larger system.

Detail Oriented

I like focusing on small details to make things easy to use. I use a feedback loop to look at every part of the service. Then, I make it better based on what users tell me. I also document all the important information to help keep things consistent and make updates easier in the future.
